Utah (5/12)

Went out to visit my son a few weeks ago. He lives in Denver, CO. He picked me up from the airport and we headed over to Utah. Neither of us had been to Arches or Canyonlands National Parks, so we headed over for some camping/bonding as well as some photography. We started at Arches and certainly visited the landmarks. The below images are of the valley and Delicate Arch in afternoon light. What we also did after the sun went down was experiment with different colored lenses over a flashlight and light paint the arch after dark. We were going to do some star trails, but cloud cover moved in shortly after it got dark. Fun stuff. For you photo buffs, I found the best night settings were 20seconds @ 5.6 with an ISO of 2000.
Blue Lens over flashlight
Red Lens over flashlight
Next we headed over to Canyonlands. Mesa Arch at sunrise is mandatory. We were fortunate as the valley was somewhat clear and the sunrise was stunning. What is amazing is that after the sun rises, it basks the underneath of the arch so it appears as if it is on fire. A photo does not do it justice.
Living a dream. Blue Skies.
