South Florida

Green Cay Wetlands in Boynton Beach has been great the last two mornings. I have a number of keeper images to post. I am working these up on a laptop computer so the colors/contrast may be off. Today's featured bird species is the Purple Gallinule. As you can see he is a dynamically colorful bird. Just after first light he was walking out on the stalks to obtain seeds which were almost at tripod level which really worked out well. If you look closely at the lower image you can see the seed w/in his bill. Blue Skies.

TEASE POST: A little later in the morning watched a Red Shoulder hawk capture a snake and carry it up to a tree limb. Yep, lucky enough to get a shot. Usually when I get to a place, someone will say, "You should have been here 5 minutes ago." Well this morning it was me telling that to folks. This hawk/snake shot and a hawk flier will be forthcoming soon.

Great shots Ken, I hope you have good weather and come home with a full hard drive.

We spent last Christmas in Melbourne with the in-laws and I never knew this place existed. I guess I should have done my homework.

Can't wait to see the hawk with the snake shot.

All,
Thx for taking the time to comment.

Brad-Vierra is certainly worth the trip. Merritt Island just to the north is even better. If you decide to travel to Melborne again let me know and I'll provide reliable hot spots.

Blue Skies.
