Arizona

Decided to take a blog hiatus due to having an aggressive road schedule doing art festivals and in Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina as well as programs in January and February. So catching up on things today. In January took a 5 day photo trip to Arizona. Waterfowl were the primary target species. We had good weather for most of the trip. Wood ducks are my favorite ducks to photograph. Finding the above and below birds in the Lake Powell area was great.

We also found some mallards and pintails at Papago Lake.

The below Anna's Hummingbirds and Say's Phoebe were located in a super location, the Riparian Institute, right within the suburbs of Phoenix. If you look closely at the second image below you can see the female's tongue sticking out.

Broke out of my critter mode and took a few landscape shots. The below shot is at an awesome place called Horseshoe Bend during sunrise.

This shot is on Navajo land and named Antelope Slots.

There was so much snow in Grand Canyon National Park in some locations you had to trudge through knee deep snow to get to the overlooks. The Grand Canyon is always special and the views were worth the walk.

I had seen photos of Monument Valley and happy we were able to work it in during our road trip.

We were fortunate to see as much as we did in the short trip. This country is so special with it's diverse opportunities. Blue Skies.

A stunning array of shots!

I especially like how you captured the highlights in the eyes on the first wood duck photo, but there isn't a weak photo in the lot.
