Rocky Mountain National Park

Although the first photography day in Colorado it rained most of the day, it did provide time to scout photo locations and try to pattern the critter movement. The park had also received enough snow that only the lower elevations were vehicle accessible (first 10 miles of the southwest entrance). The upper elevations still remained closed when I left this morning (Sunday). Saturday morning due the rain, fog was in most of the areas that the elk were traveling. The rut was certainly in and I have some decent fight images that I will post when I get home. The above images are a sample of some of the fog shots that I quickly worked up.

Sunday I came back to Denver to my son's house. He has a network which allowed me to provide the post. He and I went to the Denver Broncos game this afternoon. The game could not have been better with the Broncos winning 39 to 38! One of the best football games I have ever seen.

Life is grand.

Oh wow that first picture is really beautiful. I may have increased the contrast and given the color a touch mroe saturation, but the mist really works - for one reason or another it seems to highlight the power of the animal. Very nice.

Despite - or because of the mist - impressive shots!
Very cool!

All,
Thanks for taking the time to comment! Very humbling.

Adrian-the Aspens are just starting to turn, I'd wait a week.

Tommy-the rut is beginning to peak. Would have been full except for the warm days.

Chris-Really appreciate the honest comment. A critique like yours make us all better photographers. The image portrays the actual scene. That Sat. night I did experiment with hue/saturation in PS and the image lost the foggy essence.

Blue Skies-Ken

I am back :-)
There is something about the mist that changes everything. I love mist and reflections.
