Common Grackle

Today's featured species is a Common Grackle. Still posting FL images although I've be home for over a week. Although considered a nuisance in some areas, Grackles when the sun catches the feather iridescent just right have dynamic colors. You can kind of see the colors in lower guy, that has a recently caught frog in his mouth. Blue Skies and Happy New Year everyone!

What lovely shots of a not very loved bird. The egret in the last post is beautiful too.

Ken, You always choose your backgrounds well, bringing out the beauty of the birds in the foreground. Nice.

Your Florida road trip was very productive, I have enjoyed catching up on your post this morning.

Grackles are very pretty birds when viewed up close. I have always enjoyed listening to their calls and as one of the first summer birds to arrive in our area in early March I always look forward to their arrival.

Ken: I thought those birds were as big as crows in Florida. Those were neat shots.
