Chincoteague NWR #2

As a followup to yeterday's male Bufflehead, today's featured post is the female Bufflehead. These females were taken in the exact same spot. Blue Skies.

Both female and male shots are classy! And you got 'em doing their wing flapping thing.
You seem to have a knack for that.
When I was at Viera - I didn't see even one Teal doing it... aaargh. :)
Cheers, Klaus

Another excellent series!

In reference to the comment on the coyote: My experience has been like yours until this instance. I did videotape one once crossing the meadow at long range and saw one feeding on a roadkill deer at Milam Gap, but he fled into the woods after I got a short segment of video of him and of course I have often heard them at a distance.

I agree with you about the feeding.
They are a threat to the fawns and
shouldn't be encouraged to gather in the meadow area, or be habituated to human presence in any way.

Great shots both days Ken. I agree with Klaus, I can sit forever and they do nothing or get out of distance. Bad weather is comming it would be a good day to get and catch the deer feeding before beding down.

WOW...another beautiful series. I like the first shot where the fella is almost standing and flapping his wings.
