Snowy Owl

Today's feature is a return to the Snowy Owl images captured on my most recent trip. These were all taken at Assateague Island National Seashore. Feel fortunate to be able to see, let alone photograph such a stoic bird. The top image was taken just as the light began to rise over the ocean and hit the dunes. The bottom photo was a second owl that was miles south from the first one, that was momentarily perched on a dune. Blue Skies.

I'll bet you had a field day, snapping away pictures of those before they took flight.
Great shots. Thanks for sharing them. I also like owls.

What a fantastic experience to see these guys. With certain wildlife I sometimes get so excited at being able to view the animal or bird that I don't pay enought attention to the camera.

A beautiful bird. Lovely color. I like the way owls look when they are sitting and watching like this one. Very calm and relaxed.

This is by far one of the most beautiful owls I have seen Ken. I am so glad you found some on your trip which you can show us.

Wow Ken - another amazing wildlife picture! You really do make the most of what nature offers - these owls are so beautiful and you had the chance (again) to be there!

Outstanding series as usual. I like the light in the first one and the close-up detail in the 2nd.

Ken, these are fantastic, I am a bit confused as I thought they only lived in the snow? and I see them here on the sand.. I guess that is what I get for assuming.. thanks for sharing

Hi Ken,

Thank you for your nice comment to my blog!
These snow Owls are my favorite birds. They are so amazingly beautiful and mysterious at the same time. I never saw one outside. My only encounter with them was in a Zoo.

Have a great weekend!
