Both of these Merlin images were captured on conifers adjacent to the Denali Park road. The top image is a male and the bottom is a female. Blue Skies.
They are both beautiful birds, Ken. And well composed with such clear backgrounds. The female almost resembles a red-shoulder hawk, although a lot smaller. I really like the coloration of the male.
Joan, Yes, they are in the falcon family. And yes, I have gone into the backcountry once, but have not had an opportunity to photograph lambs yet. Blue Skies.
these are awesome, ken!! first time checking in for a few days. love all the images. keep up the great work...btw, i like the new equipment lackey!!! lol.
Hello Ken, I have been stopping by everyday and enjoying your adventures I just have not had much time to comment.
With the quality you have posted in your short stay so far I can't imagine what you will have by September. Beautiful photos and great lessons as always.

Beautiful images Ken. I do not know them at all, are they of the falcon family? Have you had your days off and done your hike yet?

Stay safe, Brad.
Cool - getting both genders. Seems that you're having a blast up there and all's going well!
Stay safe!
Cheers, Klaus
