South Texas

Spent last week in south Texas. Helped a good friend get moved into Brownsville and took some time photographing some avian migrants. The bonus was while photographing some birds in Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge the above Bobcat appeared at a water habitat to take a drink.

Was fortunate to capture both the Baltimore and Orchid Oriole at South Padre Island.

Great reflection with this Skimmer also from South Padre Island.

Nicely perched Black-bellied Whistling Duck and Greater Kiskadee taken at Estero Llano Grande State Park.

Green Jay and Cardinal taken at Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge.

Was a fun week with friends and seeing lots of great avian species. Blue Skies.

More wonderful shots. I especially like the bobcat! You captured that at just the right time.

Hi Ken, I'm a new visitor who dropped in from Elaine's Artic View blog. I enjoyed a previous post on osprey as we saw several this weekend in CHincoteague National Wildlife Refuse.

Wow, Ken! More amazing stuff from you, but I'm never surprised to see it. You have nothing but keepers on this trip, and your skimmer is better than the ones you got last spring at Merritt Island. Just love that smooth water and that's what was missing in most of the shots at Merritt Island when we were there. Fantastic stuff, dude; you have a gift!

Beautiful images, Ken! The bird portraits are each fantastic, and all with great clean backgrounds. But it's the eyes of the bobcat that really stand out in my mind -- exceptional image!

Extremely professional work. I bet few have captured a bobcat with its' tongue out like that--perfect.
