Today's featured species is a male Pine Grosbeak.
All these images were captured last week within Sax Zim Bog near Cotton, MN. The birds were feeding on a deer carcass and some seed, along with some Gray Jays, Boreal Chickadees and Redpolls. Blue Skies.

This bird is gorgeous! I have some photos of the Rose Breasted Grosbeak, but I have never seen anything like this. Beautiful.
Gorgeous shots - especially like the last one!
Met with Brad Myers and went to Blackpoint & Viera. Finally got my Least Bittern and we saw the Crested Caracara. 3 Times! Was a great shoot!
Cheers, Klaus

Beautiful shots, Ken. Another species I have not seen or photographed.
Ken, beautiful photos, I love the color on these ones. I actually got to photograph some of these here last spring. sad to admitt that I didn't know what they were until I got home and looked it up. and I still haven't checked to see if that was something rare or not..this reminds me that I need to do that, and my photos aren't near as beautifully done as yours.. thanks for sharing
Hi Ken! This bird is beautiful, its red color is really stunning. What a pity not to live here too! Excellent blog! Greetings from Spain!
