Choptank River, Maryland

Today's feature photos are some of my favorite waterfowl, Canvasback ducks. Above are both the male (lower) and female of the species. They are very stoic looking and the afternoon light really portrayed the colors of the male's head. Both these photos were captured on the Choptank River in Maryland. Blue Skies.

I have never seen one with a red eye like that Ken and it is nice when people post a male and female of a species so that dummies like me can see the difference. I am always interested in seeing this. Thanks.

I always find their bill to be very interesting to look at. They look so heavy duty. I've been seeing some canvasback around the Bay Area too.

More top notch images, Ken. I like how you have captured the detail and colors. I have only seen canvasbacks once or twice in our area of Pennsylvania.
